Herriman High Record Holder in the 3200m (9:17.63) and the 2000m Steeplechase (6:12.32)

4th in the 3200m at State

Qualified for Nationals in the 2000m Steeple.

4:24 in the 1600m

Team was Runner-Up in Track.

  • Top 6 at the WAC Championships (Got injured the week of Conference so couldn't finish)
  • Top 30 at the XC Regional Race (Still injured with a stress fracture)

PM- Workout on the track. We did 8x1000's at 3:03-2:58 and I was in that window for all of them except one I was 3:04 because I got tripped up passing the girls. I went 2:52 on the last one after I changed my spikes to my Endorphins. 2 mile warmup and cooldown.

PM-Ran 7 out to Lakeside and back with Seth, We were cruising at 7:30ish pace which was pretty easy then when we finished I realized I had to go up to the top of the school to get my car so we ran 1.5 up there and got it then drove down. I did an ice massage after because my achilles was pretty tight. I feel like I will be able to come back this season and I am planning on running either the 1500m or 5000m this week at UNLV with the guys. I feel like I don't have enough speed for the 1500m or enough base for the 5000m so I'm not sure which I would rather do. Speed workout tomorrow.

PM- The workout today was a 5 mile threshold pace at 5:50-6:05 pace with 1 mile warmup and then 600,400,300,200,and 100 at 1:31, 1:01, 0:46, 0:31, 0:15. I hit just about all of the paces and was like 1:03 on the 400. My legs were trashed after the 600m though. We did 1 mile cooldown then cleaned up the branches and twigs around the track. I went and warmed my achilles after and stretched then took an ice bath. I am racing the 5000 and 1500 this weekend and i'm really excited to get back into racing.

AM- 7.5 with Brenden and Kevin around Lakeside

PM- 1.0 easy at golds then I stretched out my hamstrings, quads, and calves before headed home to pack for the race.

Woke up and headed over to the WAC with Logan and Brenden because we were all driving down together to UNLV. I slept for a while in the car but spent most of it just talking with the guys. When we got there we ate at some sandwich shop and then went and ran a couple miles for a shakeout before my race. At about 1.5 out I began to feel my left achilles tightening up so I just stopped running and turned around. I went and talked to Coach Houle and he said to just skip the 5,000m today and just run the 1500m tomorrow. I was really disappointed that I didn't get to run it but oh well, at least I can try and race well tomorrow.

AM-Woke up and went down to the buffet for breakfast with Rush's dad and brother. I got French Toast and fruit for breakfast then went up to our room and packed. We got our stuff together and headed over to the meet. When I got there I got treatment from one of our trainers but she kept getting pre-occupied with other runners whose events weren't until after mine so I was almost late for my race. I warmed up a mile and then put on my spikes and did striders and headed to the line.

RACE- I took off in the first 300m and just got in 3rd place and came through the 300m in 50 seconds, I needed to hit 48 if I wanted to get my goal so I took the lead to speed up the pace. I got the pace back to wear I wanted it but I was already dead from leading into the wind so in the last lap 4 guys flew past me but I managed to catch one of them by the finish.

I finished in 4:14 which converts to roughly 4:31 which is 7 seconds slower than my high school PR in the 1600m. I was really frustrated after my race because my right achilles got really sore in the last 200m so I wasn't able to kick nearly as hard as I wanted to. I am tired of injuries and I just want to be back where I was 5 months ago.
