AM- Easy run by myself to get my legs shaken out and then did some striders and idiot drills.

PM- Got to the race at around 4:15 and walked around a bit and talked to some people and then went and got warmed up for the 1600m. My legs were feeling a bit too loose but I thought that would go away during the race. I did some striders and some idiot drills and then headed to the line to get checked in and get my bib.

1600m- I took off in third behind Rory and Connor and basically stayed that way the whole time. I came through the lap in 1:03 and I was already hurting. I was pretty sore and I guess I just didn't feel that up to racing a 1600m so my next two laps were 2:16. When they shot the gun I began to push again and I passed Connor but Landon Greenhalgh from Syracuse passed me putting me in third and I didn't have the strength to pass him. I barely edged out Connors last 15m surge finishing 3rd in a 4:26.00 (Connor was a 4:26.01).

I was pretty mad about my race because I don't think I gave it my all and because I think I just gave up when Rory got too far ahead. I was running the 800m so I went to go cool down and talked to the Greenhalgh twins about how to run the 800m because it was my sixth time running an open 800m ever (3 as a Sophomore, 0 as a Junior, and 2 as a Senior) and I was seeded 2nd behind a kid from Lone Peak. I was feeling pretty confident about this race but I thought there would be someone fast who would push me sub 2. I did some striders got my trophy for the 1600 and then headed to the line.

800m- I took off in second and drafted the kid in first on the back stretch and I felt like we were going too slow so I took the lead and came through the lap in 60 seconds. I pushed as hard as I could and could never find that last gear and I felt like I was dying quick because I came through 600 in 1:31. I kept looking back expecting someone to come catch me but I had a big gap on the next kid so I came through for the win in a 2:02.

I felt pretty good about this but I think I can do a lot better if I had better competition but oh well. I cooled down like half a mile and then watched Rory and Lucy race then got my plaque and backpack for winning the 800m. Our boys lost the meet by 4.5 points which would have been the difference between me finishing second ahead of Landon and/or Stetson running 1 event. Pretty good day though but I wish I could have ran at BYU.
