Woke up and got my clothes on and ate some breakfast then headed over to the WAC to see if my spikes were there. Coach Evans was there so he let me in and I went in real quick and grabbed them. I got to the meet pretty early so we just chilled for a while then went and walked the course a bit then started our warmup.  I felt okay, I didn't feel great but I didn't feel terrible and was very unsure of how I would do. I put my spikes on and headed to the line and did some striders.

RACE: When the race started I got into the lead pack and ran with them and stayed right on them through the first 2 miles of the race coming through the first mile in 4:56. After that first mile we cooled it a bit as the course started to get a little complicated. I was right with Trac and Jason and 3 Wyoming kids were all around us, I had heard of these Wyoming kids as they had just raced and one of there kids did really well and beat there varsity but he wasn't up with us for some reason. Anyway, I was in good position and there wasn't much jostling around but it was looking alright for UVU but Wyoming would be tough to beat. We came through mile 2 in 9:55 (4:59) but I was beginning to start to feel a little tired.

I kept pushing though the third mile but the Wyoming guys and Jason and Trac all started to pull away and two SUU kids passed me. I was beginning to feel a little demoralized but when Chris passed me I began to feel a bit better and fought back and passed him and the Wyoming kid that were way fast. I was just trying to hold on but I think I'm used to 3 mile-5Ks so when I hit three miles in 15:07 (5:13) I was kind of mad so in the last 1200m I tried my hardest to reel in the SUU guys but Josh passed me so I was kind of worried that more people would pass me so I pushed as hard as I could and I sped up a lot but so was everyone else so they stayed the same distance away from me. In the last 200m I went all out and couldn't catch the SUU guy so it more became just surviving and not losing a position.

In the end, UVU ended up taking 2nd behind Wyoming because they had 1,2,4,11,13 were we had 3,5,7,9,10 and they only beat us by 3 points. After we talked for a bit we headed on our cooldown part 1 then went and had a team meeting with Coach. He told us good job and gave us some advice and then sent us on our way. I did 3 with the guys afterwards then headed up to the Herriman Invite to watch Kramer and Connor McMillan race.
