Warmed up 1 mile by myself most of the way (the team left me while I went to the bathroom) then proceeded to put on my Nike Victory XC spikes. After warming up and doing some idiot drills.

I finished second behind Jake Heslington (15:45). I am glad I had a chance to race against him before state so that I could figure out a way to beat him.

I got on the bus home and when we got back to the High School after about 30 minutes of car troubles Connor, Jesse, Braden, Calvin, and I went for a cooldown for about 20 minutes (2 miles).

Woke up in the morning and drove to Rosecrest were I ran 4 miles with the Varsity boys (and Tanner and Jesse J.) Then after school we ran another 5.

1 mile warm up with the varsity boys (plus Tanner and Jesse) at Sugarhouse Park. 8x1/4mile repeats with 2 minutes recovery in between.

I had a little bit of pain in my foot but other than that I felt just fine. We went at most 75 seconds for each of the repeats so I would say it was a pretty good workout. We ran on the State course and then had to turn around and head back towards the lake because there was football players on the field so we went a total of 3.55 (plus recovery)

After, we ran 4x150 meter rundowns then cooled down 1 mile with the girls. We stretched and drank chocolate milk together as Connor and Jesse fought with the girls who took and hid their shoes.

Ran with the Varsity boys plus a few other top JV runners from Monarch to Juniper to Rosecrest to 13400 south to Monarch.

It was really cold wet and rainy which made the run so miserable. I have very little to say about this run as it was a living hell (except hell probably would be better as it would be a lot warmer). It was a total of 4 miles which we did at a pretty fast pace because we were just trying to finish so we would be able to go home.

Pretty good run before Region nothing much to it. It was cold but I came prepared since yesterday it was really cold and wet. I ran with Braden, Connor, Rory, Calvin and some of the other JV boys. It was nice to run kind of slow but still get some miles in for the week.

It was a 3.5 (including striders and cooldown) we ran from the High School to Mainstreet and back. My foot started to act up again and I got a small short pain in my back. All considered it was a good run and I hope I will be ready for Region since Barnes thinks I should be doing a sub 15 on that course. Its a reasonable goal but since I will be most likely running alone it might be a little tougher. It will be in the high 40's to low 50's during the race which is apparently the best temperature for running.

Ran 1 mile in the morning like Barnes told me to do. Still pretty nervous about region today as I am expected to win which is quite nerve racking. I just hope I don't choke and then run slow. Region will be pretty interesting to see who can possibly break up our pack but I think Kevin Lynch and Austin Brower might have a good chance.

REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Ran around with Connor and Rory before the race and watched the JV boys and girls. We warmed up inside the Westlake High School gym with the Varsity boys not including Braden Jesse and Mckay. Ran out to watch the Varsity girls finish and then ran inside to put on my Nike Victory XC spikes. Got out to the starting line and did idiot drills with a big jacket on (it was really cold).

When the race started Jesse and a Murray kid took off ahead trying to lead the race. I took over about 40 seconds later and kept the lead. 1st mile I came around in 5:01 which was right on pace for my goal of 14:56. Fell off the pace here a bit as I began to gap Austin and Jesse by about 30 meters. This is where I began to really run away with the race as they most likely got discouraged and I believe that Austin started to pull away from Jesse. My next mile I came around at 10:18 (5:17) which was kind of discouraging but I just tried to keep my head up and began my kick.

I began to feel a sort of cramp in my chest and a pain in my foot but this didn't surprise me at all since it has been happening since I ran at Soldier Hollow where I finished 5th. I raced past the tennis courts and I began to feel the race right here even though I was in severe pain but I pushed past it and headed down the final stretch. During this stretch is where I began to start to speed up as I just wanted to finish but the only person I saw was Jake Garlick which wa wierd. As I came down the last 200 meters heading down to the finish and I felt a burst of energy so I kicked it in at full speed finishing with a time of 15:29.8 (5:11) which was a new course and Herriman High School record.

Herriman Boys went 1,3,4,5,7 which was a team score of 20 points. After the bus ride home Jameson, Rory, Tommy and I went on a 1.5 mile cooldown around my house. Braden and Calvin showed up so went another mile making it a 2.5 miles for a cooldown. I feel pretty good right now but I dont think I'll be able to do that for another 12 days (State Championships).

Girls went 4,7,9,11,12 and took second behind Skyline, Kami ran a 18:46 which was a PR for her. Jessica and Emily came in pretty close behind her and I believe that Emily got a PR on this course. Taylor Crowton, ran a 19:37 and came in 51 seconds behind Kami but doing soccer really takes a toll on you.

Woke up and got in the car with Rory and headed over to Traverse Ridge where we met Barnes, Braden, Connor, Tanner and the girls. We headed up the long road for about 4.2 miles in the deep fog. The fog was so deep that you couldn't see 100 meters ahead of you and cars were zooming down the steep hill past us. The long grinding hill hurt so bad since the day before we had Region Championships where I set a new course and High School record.

When we reached the top of the 4 mile long hill we stopped and walked around for a bit before beginning the long road down. About 1 mile in Rory pulled right in front of me and began flicking water in my face so I moved around him and continued down the hill at a 5:30 pace (but we sped up throughout the run). A mile later my shoe came untied (just my luck) and I had to stop to tie it and then catch back up to Connor. During the downhill my shins began to feel as if someone had kicked them repeatedly. When we finished we had a total time of 1 hour 2 minutes which was pretty good for the long uphill at the beginning.

After school ran with the boys up Juniper to the reservoir then down to Emmaline then down to Butterfield to The Cove then from there take 13400 south back to Monarch. It was a pretty good run we stopped at the Cove for a while and played a joke on Connor while he was in the bathroom. We went pretty fast for the run considering the first 2.5 miles were all up hill (but not as bad as Saturday) and we went at a 7:18 pace for the entire run. Barnes told us to not go super fast as we will most likely have speedwork tomorrow but oh well and Rory almost got hit by car which was kind of scary but he's alright so thats good.

Went up to Juniper Crest and met the rest of the team up there. Warmed up 1 mile to where we do the repeats and did 15 second striders. After a couple of them Barnes told us the workout and how we should be hitting 5:30s for each of the repeats.

1st repeat- 5:25. Took off way to fast for what we should be hitting which really hurt when we started to head up the hills.

2nd repeat- 5:34. I got about half way through this repeat before having to stop and tie my shoe. I caught up to the front guys and sprinted to the end to try and make the time but we fell short.

Final repeat- 5:27. Just about perfect pace-wise as we took off at a great pace, then settled into a fast pace and went up the hills like they were nothing.

Cooled down 1 mile back to Juniper and walked around for a bit before stretching and going home. Great job guys good workout!

Pretty simple run, went up the trail to where we hit 2 miles and then headed back. When we got back we played six-square for a while and stretched. Barnes rolled me out and it hurt me quite a bit as I was screaming as he stuck his knee into my butt. Trying to take good care of myself and keep myself healthy so I rolled out and massaged my legs how Barnes told me to.

Ran 1 mile up to Butterfield Park from Rosecrest with the team and did striders before Barnes told us what to. The workout was 4x400 and 3x800 at sub 68 for the 400's and sub 2:30 for the 800's. He had us do a 10 second stagger between the starts from fastest to slowest making me last.

1st 400- 62 seconds

1st 800- 2:17 seconds

 2nd 400- 64 seconds

2nd 800- 2:14 seconds (fastest I have ever ran an 800 including track)

3rd 400- 62 seconds

3rd and final 800- 2:18 seconds

4th and final 400- 62 seconds

1 mile cooldown back to Rosecrest and stretched out. I drank 5 chocolate milks and then walked to Connors house where my Mom picked me up.

Went to Monarch Meadows and did some core with the team. Went up the Trail to Friendship drive then to Mirabella then to Rosecrest and then take Juniper back to Monarch. My stomach felt kinda sick but that might have been the popsicle I ate prior to running. Other than that I felt pretty good my foot and shins weren't as hurt as they usually are.

Went to Rosecrest Park and met the team then waited for Braden before Barnes talked to us about State Championships. Warmed up 2.2 miles plus striders then we were told our workout which was a 1 mile repeat faster than 5 minutes and it was aided. I took off with Jesse, Calvin and Connor and we did our first 800 in 2:08 (which is my best 800 time ever). Jesse and Calvin dropped off soon after the first 800. It was just me and Connor I passed him at the very end by like .05 seconds for the win with a time of 4:31 which is now my mile PR. Ran back to Rosecrest Park and stretched a bit before heading to my road drive at the high school.

Day before state run just an easy run then went up to Braden Bronsons house for the team dinner. Watched Rocky III after the JV went home and Barnes talked to us about our race tomorrow. Went to harmons and got some powerade and chocolate milk and then went to bed as soon as possible.

Basically exactly what I didn't want to happen, happened. I am going to make sure I never have a bad race like ever again and I hope to at least try to redeem myself at FootLocker Nationals.

Ran with the boys varsity up to the reservoir then down to emmaline then to the middle school then back to monarch on the trail. I felt pretty good for the second half of the run but for the first half I felt kinda sick. Got back and stretched so that Barnes wouldn't yell at us and so we could play six-square.
