AM- Went and ran the course once and then again barefoot then went and showered, and washed my shoes. I am very unsure about myself for this weekend because I have not done so well the past few workouts and I feel like USU might have been a fluke. I really hope I am prepared for it.

PM- Went on a 4.5 mile run by my self and tried to set my goal for cross country and came up with:

  • Be top 5 on the team at every meet
  • Top 10 at the WAC Championships
  • Top 30 at the XC Regional Race
  • Do my best at every meet

And for track:

  • 14:35 5,000m run
  • 3:55 1,500m run
  • 8:55 3,000m Steeple

and for indoor:

  • 8:45 3,000m run
  • 14:50 5,000m run
  • 4:00 1,500m

You are the man! I love how you are focused on goal setting and on measurable marks. I have no doubt you will have a successful season. If you haven't already, be sure to look at past results of teams in the conference, and especially the region meet. For instance... Just realize that in the history of UVU (thus far and hopefully not for long) only Josh and Cliff and Jared Keller have placed 50th or better at the region meet. To place 30th you'll likely have to run sub 5 miles on grass at altitude for 10k which takes work and you definitely have the potential for. Also to go after that 8:55 steeple mark (which will qualify you for region and give you a good shot at natties), just realize you'll likely have to be in 8:15-8:20 shape for an open 3k. If you are amazing over hurdles like Trac, you likely can add 30-40 seconds to your 3k and get your steeple time. UVU is lucky to have you and we need kids like you to raise the vision and start qualifying for big meets. Super excited to follow your season. You are in the midst of some of the best friends one can have. Send my regards to the guys and get in that front pack tomorrow and run well!
