Got up to Park City pretty early (about 3 hours early) and walked the course then waited for the spectator race and all the other races to start. We started warming up when the varsity girls started and did about a mile and a half. My legs felt really heavy and non-responsive, but that was because of our tough workouts this week. I did some striders and idiot drills but my legs were still way heavy and I was a bit worried about the race. We got to the line early and saw that Ben wasn't there so it would be winnable.

RACE: I took off as fast as I could go and got to the front with Rory and Jesse D. and made a wall up front so no one could pass us. We maintained this wall till Jesse fell back and Ricky Faure from Rock Springs Wyoming took his place and some Wasatch kid surged away but we didn't chase him because we knew he wouldn't be a threat. We came threw our first mile at 5:19 and Ricky Faure tried to break away from the pack but I didn't let him. We caught the Wasatch kid but Tomy from East decided to do the same thing and took off.

Kramer Morton moved up next to me and we chased Tomy and worked together to move away from the pack and we came through the 2 mile at 10:09 (4:50). The next mile I tried my hardest to surge away from Kramer but I couldn't open up a gap or even pull away from him. I fell back at around 600 meters left and I couldn't get my body moving and took a look back to see if I was safe, which I was. Kramer finished with a 15:09, I was a 15:17, Ricky was a 15:22 and Rory was right behind him.

Cooled down a half mile because the guys were complaining that we had to be at the awards.

Yeah... It stinks to have one of the best teams in the United States and always having to stay late to collect your trophy! I feel your pain.

You are one tough runner Chuck. Everyone from Alta will be pulling for you at state.
